Clinician Avatars - How it works & what patients say

Transcript

The use of digital twin, or avatar, technology is new to healthcare - but growing. I've been working with this technology since 2024 -and the pace of development in that time has been remarkable. When I first reviewed my digital twin, my initial thoughts were: Does it look and sound like me? Will patients trust it? And how will I maintain complete ownership and control? To create your digital twin, you must give live, on-camera consent, which is then verified using facial recognition. Your avatar can't be used, edited, or re-created without that consent. In terms of ownership - I retain full ownership of my likeness, and I must approve every script before any content that uses it can be published. Also, if I decide to stop using my digital twin - it and all related data will be permanently deleted. For the technology behind the avatars, we chose Synthesia — a UK-based platform. They meet high international enterprise standards for data security, and AI governance. For example, they were the first AI company to achieve ISO 42001, which is a new global standard for the safe and responsible use of AI. Also, all data is stored within the EU and fully GDPR-compliant. In terms of patient feedback: in my practice, the response has been very positive. Using these avatar-based videos - I've seen patients arrive better prepared; and engage far more with surveys and outcomes capture. The videos have also been effective at addressing anxiety related to symptoms, or an upcoming procedure - particularly for patients where English is not their native language. Many thanks for watching - for more information please contact the team at info.4Cori.com.
